Our first advent activity was to attend the Chuy's Childrens Parade downtown. August has attended a couple of small town parades in his day, but nothing quite to this extent. After watching the Macy's parade with him over Thanksgiving, we had a hunch that he would love it.
So on a recent Saturday, we loaded up on our bikes and made the short stroll downtown to take in the sights. We found a nice, fairly open spot towards the end of the route where we stayed for an hour or so. But as with most activities involving a two year old, he wasn't interested in staying in one place for too long. So eventually we found ourselves wandering up Congress Ave. to catch the rest of the parade before heading back to our bikes for the short ride home. And I can't say for certain, but I'm pretty sure a certain extrovert thought he was actually part of the parade, enthusiastically waving and shouting 'hi' to any and everyone who came across his path. All in all, it was a fun, easy few hours spent downtown. I definitely think we will try to make this an annual tradition.
