Holiday Card-ing

We recently made a day trip up to the Talbert Ranch to visit with my beloved Mama T. We've yet to prove that we can make the trek up to the amazing property without a photo shoot. So we packed a few wardrobe changes for the little guy and attempted to capture an image for this year's Christmas card. Despite the cold and windy elements, our little model proved to be a natural in front of the camera yet again. Of course you'll have to wait to see which one made the final cut, but here's a behind the scenes sneak peek to hold you over.

                                                              our own pint-sized Clark Kent!

Of course all of that hard work deserves to be followed by a greasy, delicious meal. So naturally that required a stop at Health Camp on our way back south.

Augie loves Pie

we WERE going to share a piece...

Thanksgiving

We had a pleasant Thanksgiving trip down to Houston where we spent a couple of days with Kevin's extended family. Of course August's eternal cold reared it's snotty head again, so we added a sick baby into the mix this year. But luckily we were able to fit some great family time in before we headed back to Austin where sickness put it's grip on all three of us. Regardless of a minor endless runny nose and cough, we have multitudes of blessings to be thankful for each and every day, so it's nice to set aside at least a day to reflect on this wonderful life.

Without further ado, pictures from the weekend:

There was plenty of freshly-bathed baby cousin bonding

Loads of hugs and fun with older cousins

Quite a bit of riding on the range

An entertaining cartwheel training session

An epic Apple-fest for the youngest generation

and Sleeping through the last playing of an Aggie/Longhorn tradition

Brotherly Love

Two weekends ago, my brother, his family and their friends all came down to Austin for a relaxing weekend of fun and gluttony. Thankfully we were invited to meet up with them and join in on some fun over the three days. The first night we took a cranky, recuperating Augie up to Whole Foods (well past his bedtime) for a very short and 'sweet' meet and greet. The next afternoon we met up with them at the lawn of the state Capitol for some frisbee action and general mayhem, followed by a dinner and lively conversation at a favorite East side haunt. Finally on Sunday we all met up at Central Market for a bite to eat and an energetic playground romp for the shorties. We love when family and friends make the trek to our part of the state and give us the opportunity to show off all that is awesome about the great city of Austin.

Croup-y

Since beginning preschool a little over two months ago, August has really encountered only two illnesses of note. The first was a six day long stomach bug that introduced us to a world of baby fluids and hunger strikes that we had yet to encounter. The most recent illness involved a cold that morphed into a nasty case of croup, that also happened to last the better part of a week. Thankfully we all survived, but it certainly wasn't pretty. And after missing a full weeks worth of fun with his teachers and classmates, Augie was downright clap-happy to be back at school this past week!

Lately...

It's been a while since I've posted. We haven't done anything exceptionally exciting, just a lot of the usual: work, school, Kevin travels, mixed in with lots and lots of this:
