Guptons Go to the River

A couple of weeks ago, we met up with the majority of the Gupton side of the family for our annual summer gathering. Some years we all get together along the Texas coast, while other years we meet at the river. This year, the festivities were held at a house along the Guadalupe River, outside of New Braunfels. We were unable to attend last year as our trip to Paris conflicted with the dates, so we were pretty excited to make an appearance this year and introduce Otis to the annual tradition. We had a wonderful time of good food, tubing, kayaking, and general relaxation along the river bank. We're so grateful that Kevin's grandmother treats us all to such a fun gathering every year, and even more thankful that she was healthy and strong enough to join us yet again. We already can't wait to all get together again next year.

A Day for Music

We recently had a multi-day stretch in between summer adventures, so we decided to partake in some local fun. Little Miss M and her mom asked us to join them downtown for Children's Day. It was a wonderful morning of music, balloons, and lemonade. And the timing couldn't have been better as August had just wrapped up his summer session of music class, and was familiar with a variety of the instruments that the symphony had on display.
Later that evening, Kevin took August on a stroll down to the Zilker Park to catch some of the Blues on the Green concert. While Otis and I stayed behind, they enjoyed a few songs, grabbed a couple of frozen treats, and walked back just long enough for August to fall asleep en route. I'd say it was a perfect day to be in Austin.

Fourth of July

We spent an extended fourth of July holiday up in North Texas with my parents. The holiday has always been one of my favorites as it personally signifies good food, relaxation, and fun in the sun. I have to say, this year was the best yet for my little family. There was a morning parade, swimming, delicious barbecue, more swimming, a fireworks show, a trip to see old friends, a photoshoot with family, and even a date night to the drive-in! Quintessential summer if you ask me.
