Paddle, Paddle, Kick

Kevin and Augie have started a nice little routine of swimming in our community pool in the evenings this summer. It's not a very big pool with any amenities to speak of, but the perfectly shaded rectangle of water provides a great training ground for Papa to practice with our little swimmer. Not to mention it's a nice pre-bed energy burn for both of them.

to the moon, Papa!

Final Roamings in Paris

Though all of the alone time was nice, my favorite days were those when Kevin was able to join in on the exploring. We thoroughly enjoyed wandering up and down our favorite arrondissements, popping in to whatever shops or eateries peaked our interest. One of the most exhilarating moments of the trip was when we accidentally happened upon the entire population of France gathered on the Trocadero across from the Eiffel Tower to cheer on their countrymen in the Eurocup. While it was far from your typical family vacation to Paris, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Kevin mastered his first international presentation, I experienced my first alone time in nearly two and a half years, all while August and the dogs were having a wonderful time in the safe hands of my mom and dad. We are so grateful to have been able to have such an unplanned adventure at this point in our lives.

Museum-ing in Paris

Other than aimless wandering along the Seine, and through the Tuileries, I spent the majority of my time in Paris museum hopping. With more destinations to choose from than I could possibly fit in with my four day museum pass, I enjoyed doing my research and creating the itinerary perfectly suited to my individual interests...though I did agree to let Kevin drag me to the Cluny Museum of the Middle Ages. It was a wonderful experience being able to spend as much time with all of the great masterpieces as my little heart desired. But to be honest, I was just as entertained with all of the museum goers as I was with the art and architecture itself.

Oh Right, Paris...

Now that I find myself happily unemployed, I finally found the time to sit down and weed through the photos from our trip to Paris last month. I won't bore you with too many of the details. So I'll leave you with the knowledge that while Kevin was busy working hard to pay the bills, I had nine beautiful days to wander the City of Light at my leisure. Of course this being our second excursion to Paris, it was nice to view it all from a different, more experienced mindset.

And of course a person's gotta eat! While Kevin's phone is full of all of the elaborate, multi-course meals that he consumed while in France, I proudly have documentation of what I like to call, 'the staples'.
