Yum!

When was the last time you truly enjoyed your dinner?

Weekend

We had a nice, somewhat relaxing weekend here in Austin. It started off great, with a swim at Barton Springs, with Sarah, for Augie and me, followed by a celebratory happy hour with more friends. August was quite tired and not interested in socializing, so let's just say he did his best to make sure none of our friends offer to babysit anytime soon.
Saturday inadvertently became 'mommy's day out' in which I ended up just doing a ridiculous amount of shopping for August. Regardless, the boys had some quality time just hanging out around the house, and playing angry birds...
After doing lots of other boring, responsible things all weekend, we loaded up the clan and walked up to a playground for a little post-dinner play on Sunday evening. Our little adventurer is becoming quite the capable toddler, and happily showed off his cargo net climbing and big slide traversing skills. It was so nice to have the playground to ourselves that even daddy and the dogs were able to partake in some of the fun.

Independence Day

My parent's live in a very festive, historic little town that loves the chance to throw a big holiday celebration. So naturally we try to head up there every 4th of July to partake in the festivities. While we didn't make the parade or main fireworks show this year, we were able to take the obligatory stroll through the town square and of course gorge on delicious chicken and biscuits, and mouth-watering steaks at a few of our favorite local haunts.

The rest of the long weekend was occupied with copious amounts of swimming by both man and canine,  multiple viewings of wimbledon, the tour de france, and beach volleyball, gawking at a front yard fireworks shows from across the lake, and consuming scrumptious home-made barbecued chicken and ribs with our loved ones under the big oak tree. It was definitely one of the loveliest Fourth of July holidays we've had in years.

Little Fish

Between our fearless water baby, playful cousins, and relaxation seeking adults, the pool was rarely lonely over the 4th of July holiday.
