So, Kevin and I got back from a 9-day jaunt to Paris last week. After collecting Augie and the girls from my Mom, we all made our way back down to Austin on Tuesday morning and immediately started to scratch out a routine for ourselves once again. Being the home-loving body that I am, I couldn't wait to get back home and on with our usual little lives again. Well, I say usual...Augie finished up his last day of summer pre-school on Thursday, and I am in the midst of wrapping up my last two weeks of work as well. Yes, you read that right, my contract job is about to be history and I couldn't possibly be more relieved and excited to have that added stress lifted from my shoulders! Of course I'm thankful for the financial assistance that it provided for us over the past couple of years, but day by day we were beginning to see that excess spending money isn't all that it's cracked up to be if it's at the expense of your family's happiness. So since the season seems ripe for change, here we are eagerly awaiting the next chapter for our home life.
While all of that's been going down, and I attempt to sort out all of the Paris photos for some posts of their own, here's the low-down on what the Gupton's have been doing the past week or so. There's been a ton of snuggling to make up for, lots of going to bed at normal people hours, enjoying our daily dog walks again, an impromptu playground visit, tons of queso eating, some epic cookie baking on Kevin's behalf, and an enjoyable Eurocup final viewing with some friends. All in all, I can genuinely say it's so good to be back home!
