The day after our excursion to the zoo, we made the short jaunt up the coast to see the harbor seals in La Jolla. They have taken up residence on a beach right in the middle of town, where you can practically walk right up to them and share their space. Naturally it's quite the tourist attraction, and really is a sight to behold.
After a brief stop for snacks, we continued on our way to the Birch Aquarium at the Scripps Institute. It was a fabulously, educational aquarium perched high on the hills overlooking the coast. We got to ogle lots of exotic creatures and even get our hands on a few of the squishier inhabitants. The events of the day formed yet another perfect adventure for our memory books. We already can't wait to go back and explore more of the area some day.
