A Boy and His Dog

August has become more and more entertained with Lilly and Daphne as the weeks go by. Neither dog can walk in or out of the room without him breaking into the biggest smile he can manage. If they are laying anywhere in his vicinity, he's stretching out trying to get a little touch of their soft, brown fur. Lilly seems to be more his protector and guardian as Daphne has become quite his buddy.

The other morning I had August laying on the couch to play, and Daphne jumped up and plopped right down next to us. Before long, I had been forced from my spot and she was nuzzling right up to him. At one point they both reached out and embraced paw to hand. They laid there with their heads nestled together for quite a while before August decided to flip over and get a better look and feel of his best buddy. Daphne laid there so patiently as he softly worked his hands over her face, even poking her eyes and reaching into her mouth for a feel of those 'vicious' fangs.

I always knew that we had two quite loving,  baby-tolerant, canines on our hands, but my heart has warmed even more after witnessing this latest bond. I firmly believe they would do anything for him.
